Racing is a sport that has been in existence literally for thousands of years. It’s certainly progressed since the days of the chariot races in ancient Greece but the drive behind racing still remains the same. When people race, regardless if it’s cars, boats, horses or themselves they do it to win. Being declared the fastest is the ultimate goal.
Races have progressed significantly since their inception. History shows that the first races were on foot; two or more men racing one another to determine which was the fastest. We still have foot races today and they can be incredibly competitive with challengers vying for the prestige of Olympic gold medals.
Races involving cars have gained popularity in recent years. Motor sports fans can attest the fact that watching a Formula One or NASCAR race can get the blood pumping. The drivers race at breakneck speeds with an incredible amount of precision. Bleachers full of fans take in the races and millions more watch from their homes as men and women get behind the wheel of cars and try to out race each other.
There are many different types of car racing and another fan favorite is rally racing. Rally racing involves cars racing around on regular city roads. This type of racing is challenging for the driver because during each race they are confronted with a course that is unfamiliar to them. One of the aspects of rally car racing that makes it unique is that it’s done year round. Races occur in every type of weather and climate isn’t really an issue. The cars are specifically designed for the race and the drivers concentrate on moving from point-to-point within the course.
Another popular type of racing involves wheels but only two. Motorbike racing is a fast growing sport and those interested aren’t just the younger crowd. There are several different variations of motorbike racing. One is called motocross in which the participants take to the dirt. They run a challenging obstacle type course with their motorbikes, including handling difficult turns and jumps. Most motocross racing is on the amateur level and there are even courses specifically designed for the youth driver.
The other type of motorbike racing is done on asphalt. Some of these are amateur races between people who want to see how well their bike outperforms the competition’s. Others are men and women who have developed their riding skills for years in preparation for a specific race. Motorbike races are held in different venues all over the world, with some of the prize money being considerable.
Some types of racing have human influence but the brunt of the speed is supplied by another type of animal. Horse racing is a prime example of this. Horse racing has been an interest of people for centuries. One of the most popular types of horse racing is thoroughbred racing. Generally, thoroughbred racing involves a long track that the horse sprints down. In this type of racing there is a jockey who is specially trained to guide the horse to victory. This is the most well-known form of horse racing and what most people are referring to when they say they are “going to the races.”
Another type of horse racing involves more than a straight sprint. The horse in this instance has to overcome not just a track but obstacles that include turns and jumps as well. This is termed National Hunt Racing and is most widely seen in the United Kingdom.
Racing whether its by foot, automobile or animal is a sport that will never fade into oblivion. We are fascinated with speed and love to see people challenging each other to perform at their highest possible levels

I was talking to my mate Clive about upgrading my Fox Micron SX Bite alarms to a set of three Delkim TXI’s, which is what Clive is using and he rates them highly. I have also heard about the new Delkim TXI Plus which comes in all the colours, red, green, blue, yellow, white and purple. I have called Delkim for a bit more information on these fishing bite alarms. I was given all the needed information about the bite alarms and the Delkim Pluses were also mentioned, a slightly cheaper alternative.
I am currently using Century NG 12ft 3.5tc fishing rods, so I really want a good set of bite alarms to go with these nice rods. I decided to go with the Delkim TXI Pluses. As it is going to be a nice weekend I’m off to my local fishery for 2 nights of Carp catching action. It will be the second time I’ve used my Trakker Armadillo Bivvy which I got at a very reasonable deal for www.sportsmanstackle.com
My last catch from my local fishery was a mirror carp of 28.4lb and a common carp of 25.10lb, my new common PB-UK. I caught these fish on Pro Gold (Terry Eustace) 12lb green Mainline to a Korda ready spliced lead core Leader, 3ox pear lead and blow back rig with a size 6 Gardiner Tallon Tip, with my favourite essential Shellfish B5 boilies.
As the weather is perfect today, I’m off for another session.

My friend has invited me to fish on his own personal fishing lake. He owns a fishery local, which is near to me; he stocks carp, tench & bream.
I went for the day so I didn’t need to take my Chub bivvy. Instead I took my Preston match brolly just in case it rained. The lake was of a fair size so I took my handy Fox Elite Barrow, as I struggle carrying all of my fishing tackle. I decided to leave the rods and reels at home and took my Fox Competition Match seat box and Shimano Technium 1250 Competition fishing pole, using size 14 elastic straight through to 5lb fishing line. The fishing bait I used was paste, pellet, corn and maggot. I took my new landing net and keep net which I bought from www.sportsmanstackle.com and also the weighing sling and scales to record my catch.
I had an excellent days fishing, I did catch some good size carp up to 14lb and some tench to 5lb mainly using maggots.

My son has decided to take up fishing with his dad. He has never shown an interest in fishing before so I was quite surprised when he wanted to go out with has dad to the local canal. He hasn’t got any of his own fishing tackle but he has decided he wants what his dad has got.
My son is 10 years old so I thought that buying new fishing tackle would make an excellent Christmas present. I’ve seen seat boxes, fishing rods, reels and all general tackle ideal for him at www.sportsmanstackle.com offering really good prices.
When they got back from fishing he had caught his first Perch of 1.2lb, a good size so I’m told. He was pleased with his catch. He was using ground bait and Maggots – Lovely.

Ethernet (this name comes from the physical concept of ether) is a frame-based computer networking technology for local area networks (LANs). It defines wiring and signaling for the physical layer, and frame formats and protocols for the media access control (MAC)/data link layer of the OSI model. Ethernet is mostly standardized as IEEEs 802.3. The Java Sea (Jawa Sea) is a large (310,000 km²), shallow sea in the southern Pacific Ocean. It was formed toward the end of the last ice age when two large river systems were drowned out. It lies in the midst of the Indonesian islands of Borneo to the north, Java to the south; Sumatra to the west, and Sulawesi (Celebes) to the east. To the northwest, the Karimata Strait links it to the South China Sea.
Fishing is an important economic activity in the Java Sea. There are over 3,000 species of marine life in the area.
The area around the Java Sea is a popular tourist destination. Scuba diving offers a chance to explore and photograph underwater caverns, wrecks, coral, sponges, and other marine life. A number of national parks exist in the area. Near Jakarta, in the Thousand Islands group, is Ujong Kulon National Park. Karimun Java is a national park comprising twenty-seven islands. Menjagan Island, near Bali, is in a secluded national park.
The Java Sea was the site of one of the costliest (to the Allies) naval battles of World War II, in February and March of 1942. The naval forces of the Netherlands, Britain, Australia, and the U.S. were nearly completely destroyed trying to defend Java from Japanese attack.

Baptism is a water purification ritual practiced in certain religions such as Christianity, Mandaeanism, Sikhism, and some historic sects of Judaism. The word baptize derives from the Greek word βάπτειν (the infinitive; also listed as the 1st person singular present active indicative βαπτίζω), which loosely means "to dip, bathe, or wash". To some groups it is a matter of religious conviction to assert that baptism is precisely equivalent to, to plunge something entirely into the water, so that the water closes over it.
Today, baptism is most readily identified with Christianity, where it symbolizes the cleansing (remission) of sins, and the union of the believer with Christ in His death, burial and resurrection so that he becomes one of Christ's Faithful. The Christian ritual of baptism traces back to the baptism of Jesus by John the Baptist, who the Bible says baptized Jesus in the Jordan River. Baptism among Christians is performed by aspersion (sprinkling water over the head), infusion (pouring water over the head) or full immersion (lowering the entire body into a pool of water). The choice to be baptized is made by a confessing believer (believer baptism, or credobaptism), regardless of age, as a confession of his faith; or on behalf of the child by his or her parents (paedobaptism) if the parents have themselves been baptized, and profess faith. Some churches practice credobaptism and some practice paedobaptism and some churches practice both. Some practice immersion, some practice pouring, and some practice sprinkling. There are differences in views about the nature and practice of Christian baptism.
Martin Luther, for example, placed great importance on baptism. Luther states in The Large Catechism of 1529,
"To put it most simply, the power, effect, benefit, fruit, and purpose of Baptism is to save. No one is baptized in order to become a prince, but as the words say, to 'be saved.' To be saved, we know, is nothing else than to be delivered from sin, death, and the devil and to enter into the kingdom of Christ and live with him forever." In contrast, Baptist groups deny that baptism has any such power, but rather only testifies outwardly to the operation of God's power, which is invisible, internal, and completely separate from the rite itself.
For Christians who baptize by pouring or sprinkling, the washing with water from above pictures the cleansing of one's sins by the blood of Christ, by the Holy Spirit, who unites the baptized person to Christ in his death and his resurrection from the dead. It is administered from above to point to that gift of the life-giving Spirit, and to portray baptism as an act not of man but of God. In contrast, a person baptized by immersion is enclosed under the water and brought out, to signify cleansing through death and burial with Christ, and consequent raising again in newness of life by the Holy Spirit. Baptism is a public rite, in testimony to others of the grace of God bestowed upon the person, and as a seal of God's promises in Christ to those who believe.

On August 15, 1947, India became a dominion within the Commonwealth of Nations under the leadership of Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru. Concurrently the Muslim northwest and north east of British India was separated into the nation of Pakistan. Violent clashes between Hindus, Muslims, and Sikhs followed this partition. The area of Kashmir in the far north of the subcontinent quickly became a source of controversy that erupted into the First Indo-Pakistani War which lasted from 1947 to 1949. Eventually a cease fire was agreed to that left India in control of two thirds of the contested region. The Indian Constituent Assembly adopted India's constitution on November 26, 1949. The Ottoman Empire joined the Central Powers in October–November 1914, threatening Russia's Caucasian territories and Britain's communications with India and the East via the Suez canal. British action opened another front in the South with the Gallipoli (1915) and Mesopotamia campaigns, though initially the Turks were successful in repelling enemy incursion. But in Mesopotamia, after the disastrous Siege of Kut (1915–16), the British reorganized and captured Baghdad in March 1917. Further to the west in Palestine, initial British failures were overcome with Jerusalem being captured in December 1917 and the Egyptian Expeditionary Force under Edmund Allenby going on to break the Ottoman forces at the Battle of Megiddo (September 1918).
Russian armies generally had the best of it in the Caucasus. Enver Pasha, supreme commander of the Turkish armed forces, was a very ambitious man, with a dream to conquer central Asia. He was not a practical soldier. He launched an offensive with 100,000 troops against the Russians in the Caucasus in December of 1914. Insisting on a frontal attack against Russian positions in the mountains in the heart of winter, Enver lost 86% of his force. A new Russian commander on the front in the fall of 1915, Grand Duke Nicholas, brought new vigor. A major offensive in 1916 drove the Turks out of much of present-day Armenia, and tragically provided an excuse for the terrible deportation and massacre of Armenian population in eastern Anatolia. With control of part of the southern Black Sea coast, Nicholas pushed forward the construction of railway lines to bring up supplies. He was ready for a offensive in the spring of 1917. If it had gone ahead, there was a very good chance that Turkey would have been knocked out of the war in the summer of 1917. But, because of the Russian Revolution, Grand Duke Nicholas was recalled and the Russian armies soon fell apart.
